Update 26.04

April 26, 2011

Hi guys.

First, welcome to our new blog. We’ve had a couple of blogs the previous years, but we never really got around to updating them. We can’t promise anything, but we are gonna do our best to use this blog to post stuff whenever we find anything interesting enough to share.
Look out for demos, videos, music from our friends, pictures or whatever floats our boat that day.

Ok, moving on. Last year we released our second album “Light Drawings” in Norway. This was liscensed to Universal, and Norway is still the only place you can get the album.
After the release of the album, we had no specific plans of releasing the album in other countries and we hadn’t really talked to any labels anywhere. So after a short tour in Norway, we somehow ended up on a small “break”. This wasn’t planned or anything. It just felt natural after all the stuff we’ve done together since we formed the band.
We’ve been using this time off to work on other bands/projects and just enjoy not having any plans . Keep in mind we formed the band in 2005, and this band has pretty much been all we’ve done since then.
A couple of weeks ago we all sat down for the first time in a long while, and had a chat about where to go, what to do etc.
We decided to just let the album go- meaning we will release “Light Drawings” worldwide via iTunes++ within the next months on our own label. We have no resources for funding any radiopluggers or anyone to do promotion. That only means that if people/magazines/blogs/radio or whatever want to review the album or list any of our songs, they pretty much have to find the album themselves. (If you write for a blog/magazine or work at a radio station etc. and want a copy to review etc. hit us up with a mail- we’ll sort you out). Most people that do this are used to people dumping it in their laps, and we don’t have the means to do this now.
The most important thing is it will be out there and you can download it for a small amount pretty soon.
We’ll keep you posted on the excact date for this later.
Oh yeah, even though we will release “Light Drawings” just as a download, we have some pretty cool limited edt. double-lps, that can be purchased via Robot in a short while. See merch section!

A week ago we finally got around to start using Soundcloud. As of now there are 5 songs on soundcloud:
Montauk, Into the light, Get lost, The dark side of the blues and Yesteryear (first song on “Light Drawings”).
Go here to check it out: http://soundcloud.com/thealexandriaquartet
Feel free to listen in as much as you want and to share if you feel like it.

If you look to your right there is a “mailing list signup”, go there to leave your email. We will start using this to share free songs etc. so if you want to know everything before everyone: do it!

Last, some words about live shows.
We’ve decided to do a few selected shows in the UK and in Germany this summer. Looks like we will be booking this ourselves, though we are looking to get in touch with people who can help us out in europe and anywhere else. If you know anyone you think would be a good match: 1. let them know 2. let us know.
But there will be shows in London, Manchester, Berlin, Hamburg ++ More on this in a few weeks.

That’s it for now.
Now, have a look at our blog. Check out some videos, listen to songs and see what’s going on.

Cheers,
Kim.
